Update + French Toast

I'm somewhat-back on this blog!

Just a little update, I decided pursue Social Media as a practicum in school and there's an assignment we've to work on, similar to the previous.
The only twist to it, is that instead of having our individual platform, we'll be sharing content on a shared platform.

I'll be posting reviews and recipes at:

And I'll be using aplatterofjoy to share recipes that I've posted up there.
So if you're interested in finding out how to make French toast, click here!

I'd really appreciate it if you tweet me your thoughts on the recipe, or if you decide to try it out, or even
just share with me your favourite toppings/variation of a French toast!

Similarly, you can find me on Instagram via #aplatterofjoy :)

Enjoy your weekends!!

Thank You

Hi there,

Today's the last day of my Social Media project.
It has been an amazing and rewarding one.

The project has taught me so much about people, food and myself.
I never knew going grocery shopping and cooking could bring me so much joy and euphoria.

Most of all, I never expected people to enjoy reading what I put up. Let alone have some asking me to keep the blog.

With that, I made an oreo-cheesecake as a way to say thank you!

Whether you left a comment on the blog, converse with me on Twitter, liked my photos on Instagram, used the hashtag,
sent me text messages of encouragement, or simply just visiting and revisiting my blog, thank you all so so so much.
Thank you for all your kind (and undeserving) compliments on aplatterofjoy.

Lastly, thank you Kar, for coming up with the name aplatterofjoy. I owe you one.

If it helps at all, I followed the recipe here. But I've no idea why it turned out so bitter. It's inedible.

And if you're wondering how to do the bunting, the materials needed are:

First you want to estimate and tie the length of the string needed

Next, arrange the flags, ensuring that the string is long enough

Finally, you want to glue the top of the flags to the string, folding it over the string slightly.

It's simple yet adds a nice creative touch to your baking! You can put them on cakes, cupcakes, brownies, anything that'd hold it up.

Have a great week ahead! :)

5-minute Hot Cocoa

What a better way than to kickstart your day with a mug of hot cocoa.
This recipe only requires 5 minutes of your time on this lazy cold afternoon!

In a microwave-save mug, place 48g of chocolate (I used Hershey's Special Dark Kisses) and 1-2 tablespoons of cold water
(just enough to barely cover chocolate). Melt it in the microwave on high for 15-20 seconds. Let it sit for 2 minutes before
stirring to a smooth consistency. If it's still chunky, pop it back into the microwave for a little longer!

Add 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, a pinch of vanilla powder/splash of vanilla essence, a pinch of salt and stir until almost lump-free.
While stirring, pour in milk. Microwave for 2 minutes or until desired temperature.

If you like your hot cocoa sweet, add sugar to taste.

Top with whipped cream or toasted marshmallows and sprinkle with cinnamon/nutmeg/cocoa :)

Have a warm, cosy afternoon ahead!
